(8201-8220 and 8262-8278 were imported)

Building continued until 1956

Seat 39 x 1st class passengers or sleep 26 x 1st class passengers.

11 x 5.5 inch journals (but 37xx and 8262 onwards had roller bearings)

Tare varies between 38 tons 17 cwt and 41 tons 10 cwt

Note:
All information and data is based on the type as it was in 1966.

Coach 8343 had one toilet converted to a shower and was painted white for use by the Governor-General's staff.

Note also that apartheid was being enforced at that time and coaches designated with a -C suffix had the relevant markings as shown in these drawings.
