Old Cattle Creek Mill Site

Bruce Stevenson, who used to work at the Cattle Creek Mill, took numerous pictures before it closed after the 1990 crushing,
he has kindly given us permission to use these pictures.

All bulk raw sugar from Cattle Creek mill was hauled to the Mackay Harbour by Queensland Rail. Here two 1720 class locomotives are at the head of a load of raw sugar boxes. The Queensland rail line to Finch Hatton was also closed after Cattle Creek mill shutdown. The majority of this line was converted to two feet gauge to haul sugar cane from the Cattle Creek area back to Marian mill.
