Pretoria Trains 11th - 13th August 2000 Photos
Quite a busy weekend in Pretoria. On the 11th, Rovos 19D's 2701
and 2702 left with the Cape Town train, seen below at Mitchell
Street and Verwoerdburg. On Sunday 13th, the Union Limited came from Redan behind 12AR 1535 and 15F 2914. After the Trans Karoo departed, the train drew in to Pretoria Station, with the 12AR heading off to Capital Park, and the 15F shunting the Union Limited set into the Blue Train shed sidings for servicing. The Executrain set was also in the Blue Train compound, an interesting set of coaches painted in a, hmm, well, nice shade of green... It's a sight better than the BJ's coaches on the Trans-Karoo though. 2914 later pushed the Union Limited consist into Platform 6, whilst the two 36's arrived to shunt the Trans-Karoo train out which had arrived behind 2 5E1's. 12AR 1535 and 15F 3094 arrived from Capital Park and took the Union Limited East via Hercules and Koedoespoort. A runpast was held at Panpoort, and another at Balmoral. 1535 returned light engine later, whilst 3094 was towed to Waterval Boven, where she saw further service on the Union Limited, and will also operate a marathon train later this week, before returning to Pretoria to operate another charter. 3094 then requires her annual boiler examination, so 2914 will operate the August Cullinan train.
