Cullinan Train 21st July 2002 Report and Photos
Leaving Cape Town on a Saturday morning, I faced a long drive to
get to Panpoort to see 19D 2650 on the monthly Friends of the Rail
train. After an overnight stay at Bloemfontein and an early start, I
managed to make it to Rayton in time to see our dome-less Dolly
rolling in. What a pleasure it was, sitting at the station listening to 2650 belting up the grade from Van der Merwe and finally drifting under the bridge into the station. A few shots en route to Cullinan, then a relaxing lunch (pancakes - yum!) in beautiful weather. I followed the train back in to Capital Park - it was great to see 2650 in action on the main line. Some nice shots at Capital Park depot with the Dolly glinting in the late afternoon sun as shunting was carried out. All pictures Copyright © 2002 Trevor Staats |
